Archive for the Petitions

Can you believe that the insurance companies are trying to get  mastectomy surgery labeled outpatient? What that means is that a woman could have surgery to remove a breast to prevent more cancer and be sent home the same day, possibly with drain tubes, anesthesia fog, the pain, managing her own meds, and remembering the exercises she must do. Try keeping all of that straight while managing the grief that must come with having a breast removed.

This practice of “drive through mastectomies” as some docs like to call them is already being practiced in hospitals all over America under pressure from insurance companies.

There is a bill in Congress now, called The Bipartisan Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act, and our signatures on a petition could help get it passed. It would require women to get at least a 2 day hospital stay when undergoing mastectomy. The Lifetime Channel is hosting the petition and it takes about 2 seconds to sign your name electronically. You won’t be asked to give any personal information but your zip code.

If you’ve experienced this horrifying situation or know someone who has and you want to add your story there you can do that as well. It’s all being used to help get congress to hear how important this is to women.

Take a minute and support this bill please Boomer girls. And either pass along this blog post to friends or send them directly to the LifeTime Channel website page
