Well we all know that we ought to be getting our blood flowing and hearts pumping once a day right? And walking is encouraged because we can do it anywhere and it’s easy on the joints right? Well did you also know that we are more likely to take more steps when we use a pedometer? Proven time and time again that when we have this little device strapped to our waists and we check in with it now and again it motivates us to add steps.

And according to America On The Move, an organization dedicated to getting Americans moving for better health, 10,000 steps per day is our goal. To help us get there they are offering a 2-fer as my grandmother Thetis used to say in conjunction with USA Today’s Weight Loss Challenge, 2 pedometers for less than the price of one.

The first one is $14.95, 2 are $12.95. The set comes with a brochure to get you started and room for offline tracking. When I wear a pedometer while training for my half marathon unless I’m on a time deadline I can always go another 100-200 steps at the end of my walk–sometimes many more.

USA Today reports

a study that people who wear a pedometer walk about 2,000 more steps a day or about another mile than those who don’t. That burns another 100 or so calories if you are just ambling along, more if you walk with a vengeance.

This pedometer offer sounds like a deal too good to pass up. Buy two, give one away, swear to this boomer buddy that you will hold each other accountable for a certain number of steps per day and voila–fun, weight loss, healthier heart, and overall feeling better?
Ah, simple, just the way life should be.
