How many of us feel the need or urge to drop some poundage you ask? By tallying up the answers to that question in my surveys and combining it with the results of others I’d say round about 80%. That’s a whole lotta poundage that wants losing.
So what to do besides the usual; buy latest diet book, read by bedside now and again, try to remember what it suggested as you drifted off to dreams of the bikini clad you, then decide the latest John Grisham or re-reading Eat, Pray, Love would be far more entertaining and a better use of your time.
Or you do what’s worked in the past and you manage to drop a few pounds. This success lasts as long as your next weekend away or frantic work schedule kicks in and the muffin top returns, victorious.
At midlife–anytime after 40 really–the game of losing weight changes. And the science of weight loss has changed but the conventional wisdom has not been updated.
Low fat, non-fat, plenty of grains, counting calories, exercising more–all of these ideas are just plain wrong for most people. Have you noticed that the world has gotten bigger not smaller since these recommendations began?
Ok so let me cut to the chase, if you want to know the latest science on how to get the pounds off, flatten your belly and murder the muffin top once and for all, check out my newest website: Easy Midlife Weight Loss. There is a fr*ee 7 day e-course that is guaranteed to give you practical information to get you started from day one. Keep reading and you will begin to lose the weight. And it’s not all about deprivation and starvation as the graphic says. I believe we should be able to enjoy life while getting healthy and fit.
Let me know what you think.
If you are fifty, or close to it my friend, then you are a shape shifter. If you haven’t yet noticed, everything you knew about staying in shape is failing. And while we are on the subject of shape, do you recognize the one you are currently clothing? What happened to the waist? Where is the flat stomach of yore? And for heavens sake what about these rolls that rise like yeast dough over the sides of our jeans!?
Piggy thighs? Jiggly upper arms? Knee pads that looks like a wad of pizza dough?
They are all part of the midlife woman’s body if we’re not careful.
I say it’s time to get mad and take action. We don’t have to take it anymore. The body changes we are currently experiencing may have made sense when we were all sitting around the campfire eating yak but times have changed. We are at the prime of our lives with a lot more of life left. Who wants to sit around in pants with elastic waists lamenting the passing of our fit and sassy selves?
Not this Boomer girl and I suspect because you are reading this you feel the same.
So what’s a Boomer to do? Join me for a coaching session or many. I’ve just launched 3 new programs and if you want to take back your mind and body– it all starts in that magnificent mind you know–there is a program for you. You can learn more here. If getting the weight thing handled at last is calling you then contact me now, gregory at gregoryanne dot com. I’m fun, I don’t bite and I’ve been where you are.
If you don’t find exactly what you think would support you best or are looking for a group or class setting drop me an email. I’ll be launching a group or two in September and if you register now you’ll get special, early bird pricing.
Well it’s hard to believe one year has passed since the first mind and body survey but there you go, it has.
What kind of survey is it and why do I do this? First of all the survey is not just a boring-one-answer-fits-none type questionnaire. There are lots of places for you to answer in your own words. Getting to know who you are and what your concerns are is what I’m after. I’m also looking for what you love about your life right now. When it’s all done, April 16th, I’ll compile all the answers into a report that is available to you if you participate. Who among us doesn’t like to know what other women are thinking and feeling about their lives, their bodies, what we love, what annoys the c**p out of us and more?
The results also give me an idea of what you want to hear more about. Do you want recipes in the reformatted ezine or just articles and information on health? Do you feel you’d like a home study course on tuning up the mind and body, a live class or teleseries of health experts?
My intention as a coach is to support you and the best way for me to do that is to know what it is you are looking for.
So if you would, use this link and join the 50 or so women who have already filled it out. It will take 15 minutes or so. Thanks for your time in advance, I appreciate it because I know how valuable time is.
Pass the word around if you would and let other boomer girls know this is available.
And if you’d like to read last years report just send an email to gregory@midlifewithavengeance.com with “report 2008″ in the subject line. I think you’ll enjoy seeing the variety of women that make up the Midlife with a vengeance community. I sure do.
On Tuesday night I attended–compliments of my good friend Chris Cavanagh–the premier of the film, The Glow Project. Conceived by eWomenNetwork co-founder Saundra Yancey, the movie was created to inspire women to their greatness by featuring a dozen or so already successful and powerful women who tell their stories. Glow, according to Yancey, is found inside every woman. “There is a powerful essence inside of every woman—a critical ingredient that only women possess. When realized, nurtured and expanded, it becomes the key to true happiness and success” she explains.
The Glow Project movie is a part of a movement, one smart women everywhere can get on board with. It’s basic premise is to help another woman along the path, up the ladder, or into the film studio. Women are the backbones of all societies and we know how powerful women are when they have support and are connected.
We need connection it is how we are wired. And if we tap into our “Glow” factor, or inner passion and operate from there we are not only unstoppable but attractive in a way that others want to connect with us.
There are some remarkable stories in Glow, some I’d love to have seen fleshed out a bit more, heard more of the nitty gritty of getting from A–a bad relationship or no money or no skills, to B–successful, powerful, rich. The wisdom the women share is compelling even not knowing all of the gory details.
I’d suggest getting a group of women together and find a local screening to attend as a group. The best part of the evening was getting to know some of the eWomenNetwork members who were also attending. And the discussions the movie prompted were all positive and motivating. Just what Saundra had in mind I suspect.
You can watch the trailer at the home page , at least do that. See if it resonates, and if so, you can find regional showings for the movie there too.
Has anyone else seen it?
